The larger an aortic aneurysms, the greater the

  1. rate of annual enlargement

  2. probability of dissection

  3. probability of rupture

In missed thoracic aortic dissection look for

  1. a history of chest pain

    a) quality (tearing or ripping)

    b) radiation (between shoulder-blades or to low back)

    c) intensity at onset (severe)

  2. comparison of the left and right major pulses

  3. detailed neurological examination
